Why Earth Fest?

·      Earth Fest is first and foremost a learning experience, providing activities for all ages, to build on our valley's environmentally focused culture with the Circularity practices of repair, reuse, and repurposing of items for a longer life.

·      Earth Fest connects people and community organizations to more sustainable ideas and to each other in order to strengthen community connections that are vital for our present and future resilience and wellbeing.

·      Earth Fest is a spring celebration of both our earth and our community.  We look to each activity and offering to provide an opportunity to spend time with old friends and meet new friends in a shared festival environment.

Earth Day
Earth Day was established as a teach-in/festival in 1970 as a response to a huge oil spill rolling up on the sands of Santa Barbara, California. With 20 million citizens across the country participating in this first Earth Day, 10% of the country’s population, it ultimately led to the creation of the EPA , the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and several more fundamental and long-standing environmental protections.
Our valley’s Earth Fest began in 2020 as a response to the compounding climate crisis and the need for greater conversations and information involving sustainability and resilience through climate action. Circularity offers an easy way for every one of us to take action every day to benefit our climate action goals.

Our Earth Fest Vision
Earth Fest seeks to provide a fun and informative experience for our community; cross-generationally, cross-culturally and between families and friends. The Trunk Sale, Fix-It Clinic, 5K fun run and hands-on repurposing activities provided by community groups, organizations and individuals draw community members together as they participate. The final success of Earth Fest should be felt in a greater awareness and comfort with making Circularity a part of our daily lives, as well as the joy in sharing Earth Fest and Circularity ideas, skills, and talents with each other.
