Earth Day - 54 years and counting
Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable.
A partnership for the planet. Be a part of the green revolution.
The first Earth Day was founded in the US in 1970 in response to a huge oil spill off the coast of California that sparked urgency to bring awareness to environmental challenges. Since that time, over 200 countries have celebrated Earth Day as a way to bring awareness of our planetary health. In coming together each year, we are reminded of the changes we can make on an individual level, and as a collective, to ensure we are on a sustainable path towards a cleaner, greener Earth.
As a Valley, we recognize the need to invest in solutions as well as taking all the small and large actions in our own homes and places of work. From Blaine County’s 5B CAN sustainability initiatives to the many nonprofits working to protect our waterways, wildlife, and wilderness areas, our community is committed to taking action and making the world a better place for everyone. While every day can be a celebration of our earth through positive habits and voting, we come together once a year to celebrate those efforts and inspire each other to take the next step on the path towards increased sustainability and resiliency.
